Sapphic Love | A Queer Tarot Collection
Upheaval. Destruction. Revelation. Transformation.
Powerful, chaotic and unapologetically raw, The Tower represents the moment when everything we thought was stable begins to fall apart.
Associated with Mars, The Tower symbolizes sudden change, unexpected endings, emotional upheaval and the destruction of foundations that can no longer support us. It's the uncomfortable realization that something we've been holding onto, whether a relationship, belief or version of ourselves, was never as secure as we wanted to believe.
The Tower isn't about destruction for the sake of destruction. It's about the necessary collapse of what no longer serves us, even when we're not ready to let it go.
The illustration draws inspiration from the raw power of nature, featuring a towering structure caught between crashing waves and a violent lightning strike. The turbulent water represents overwhelming emotions, while the lightning symbolizes sudden truth, revelation and the moments that change everything without warning.
The bold black and white composition, dramatic movement and fragmented elements create a sense of instability and tension. The nautical imagery adds another layer of meaning, reflecting the unpredictable nature of life and the forces beyond our control.
Yet within the chaos lies the possibility of something new. Sometimes we need to lose the foundations we've built our lives around before we can begin to create something more authentic.
The Tower reminds us that not everything that falls apart is meant to be rebuilt. Sometimes the destruction is what finally sets us free.
Inspired by traditional tattoo art, linocut illustration and tarot symbolism, this piece combines bold graphic elements with an exploration of change, loss, resilience and the difficult beauty of starting over.
Part of Sapphic Love, an original queer tarot-inspired art collection celebrating identity, connection, transformation and the beautifully complicated nature of being human.
