The Art Behind Sapphic Love

A little dark. A little romantic. Unapologetically queer. 🖤

Sapphic Love is an independent art project and fine art collection exploring love, identity, desire, vulnerability and the beautifully complicated experience of being human.

Created by Canadian graphic designer and illustrator Clarissa Crosby, Sapphic Love began as a personal interpretation of the traditional tarot, reimagined through a contemporary queer lens.

What started with a single illustration, The Lovers, has evolved into an ongoing collection of artwork inspired by the Major Arcana, each piece telling its own story of connection, transformation, heartbreak, healing and self-discovery.Inspired by traditional tattoo art, linocut printmaking and gothic illustration, the collection combines bold black-and-white imagery, symbolic details and carefully selected accents of colour.

Every illustration is intentionally designed to balance darkness with beauty, strength with vulnerability and traditional tarot symbolism with modern queer representation.

The figures throughout the collection are unapologetically themselves. Feminine, masculine, androgynous, soft, strong, sensual and everything in between.

Because love, identity and the human experience have never existed within a single definition.

Representation matters. And so does seeing yourself reflected in art.

More Than a Tarot Deck

While Sapphic Love is rooted in tarot, you don't need to read tarot to connect with the artwork.

Each card explores something deeply human.

The Lovers speaks to connection and the courage to love authentically. The Devil confronts desire, temptation and the patterns that keep us bound. The Moon explores uncertainty, emotional distance and the things we struggle to understand. The Star reminds us that healing and hope can exist even after our darkest moments.

And The Sun represents finally finding our light, not through someone else's validation, but within ourselves.

These aren't simply illustrations of tarot cards. They're visual stories about the relationships we build, the things we lose, the lessons we learn and the people we become along the way.

Some are romantic. Some are uncomfortable. Some are deeply personal.

All of them are created with intention.

The Gallery

Sapphic Love brings these illustrations beyond the tarot deck and into everyday spaces through a curated collection of fine art prints and wall art.

Available in a selection of materials and finishes, including fine art paper, canvas, metal and wood, each piece is designed to stand on its own or become part of a larger collection.

Whether you're drawn to the symbolism, the aesthetic or simply see a little of yourself in the artwork, the intention is the same:

To create art that makes you feel something.
