Sapphic Love Tarot Collection
Manifestation. Personal Power. Confidence. Intention. Limitless Potential.
The Magician is the first numbered card of the Major Arcana, associated with Mercury, the planet of communication, intellect, adaptability and expression.
At its core, The Magician represents personal power, manifestation and the ability to turn intention into reality. It's about recognizing that you already have the tools, knowledge and potential to create the life you want. Sometimes the only thing standing between you and your next chapter is believing you're capable of making it happen.
Its upright meaning represents confidence, resourcefulness, creativity, determination and taking action. The Magician reminds us that manifestation isn't simply wishing for something and waiting for the universe to deliver. It's about aligning your thoughts, intentions and actions, then doing something about it.
Its shadow side lives in self-doubt, manipulation, scattered energy, untapped potential and using influence for the wrong reasons. Sometimes we underestimate our abilities, while other times we become so focused on controlling an outcome that we lose sight of our intentions.
The Magician is a reminder to trust yourself, recognize your power and take ownership of what you create.
You already have everything you need. Now it's time to make something happen.
Part of Sapphic Love, an original queer tarot-inspired art collection celebrating identity, connection, transformation and the beautifully complicated nature of being human.
The Artwork
For this illustration, I wanted The Magician to feel confident, independent and completely in control of her own power.
A contemporary queer persona stands beneath a deep crimson circle, her arm raised with two fingers pointing toward the sky. The infinity symbol appears above her and as a tattoo on her forearm, representing limitless potential, continuous energy and the connection between intention and action.
In her other hand, she holds a book titled As Above So Below, a reference to the relationship between the spiritual and physical worlds. What we believe, imagine and intend must eventually be reflected through what we do.
The crescent moon tattoo represents intuition, while the crystal pendants symbolize focus and clarity. Deep crimson roses frame the composition, adding a softer contrast to her commanding presence.
Inspired by traditional tattoo art, linocut illustration and contemporary queer culture, the bold black-and-white linework and restrained crimson accents create a modern interpretation of personal power and manifestation.
She isn't waiting for magic to happen. She is the magic.
