Sapphic Love | A Queer Tarot Collection
Desire. Temptation. Attachment. Power.
Dark, seductive and unapologetically powerful, The Devil explores the tension between desire and restraint, freedom and attachment, and the things we struggle to let go of.
Associated with Capricorn, The Devil represents temptation, obsession, control and the unhealthy patterns we sometimes find ourselves returning to. But beneath its darker symbolism lies a message of self-awareness, personal power and liberation.
The illustration features a confident, tattooed sapphic figure holding a chain, accompanied by a powerful black panther. The chains represent toxic ties, temptation and emotional attachments, while the panther symbolizes instinct, independence and untamed strength. Deep burgundy roses, candles and bold black linework create an atmosphere of mystery, sensuality and rebellion. The figure is anything but powerless. She holds the chain. She owns her desire, her darkness and her power. The Devil reminds us that sometimes the chains aren't keeping us there. We're the ones still holding on.
Inspired by traditional tattoo art, linocut illustration and tarot symbolism, this piece brings a bold, contemporary interpretation of The Devil to life.
Part of Sapphic Love, an original queer tarot-inspired art collection celebrating identity, connection, transformation and the beautifully complicated nature of being human.
